Youth savings account: opened by adults, only for children and young people

Turn cents into francs. Thanks to the preferential interest rate on up to CHF 50'000, the youth savings account saves money almost by itself. The youth savings account is suitable for building up savings for a child over the long term until they become an adult. Withdrawals may only be made to an account in the child’s name.

Benefits for you

  • Targeted wealth-building: attractive preferential interest
  • Additional advantage: free account management
  • Detailed overview: thanks to annual account statements
  • Pay in small amounts easily using a deposit card

The youth savings account is ideal for children and young people under the age of 18, helping them build wealth. Account management is free of charge, and the accrued savings can grow even faster thanks to the preferential interest rate. An annual account statement creates transparency, and free account management opens up more savings potential.

The youth savings account is practical: it is opened by the parents in the name of the child or adolescent. As with the gift savings account, it is designed to enable the account holder to turn a dream into reality with the deposited balance once they become an adult. Unlike the gift savings account, withdrawals or transfers to another account are only possible if the same person holds the other account. Thanks to account statements, the youth savings account remains transparent – and the account holder is always up to date on their youth savings account. The ideal solution for secure savings for studies, a stay abroad or a driving licence.

Very young children can gain even greater benefits from this youth savings account over the long term. An initial deposit of CHF 50 is made on the youth savings account, which we give to your newborn child along with a welcome gift. If you open a Fund Savings Plan for your child at the same time, we'll double the initial deposit to CHF 100. The precondition is that the child is a Liechtenstein citizen or resident. To receive this present, please visit one of our branches and bring the following documents: valid passport or ID card of a parent, and additionally a birth certificate, family record book, or family register extract if your child is not entered in the passport of the legal guardian. You can request the credit for the initial deposit anytime before your child's first birthday. The amount is transferred directly to the youth savings account. The amount is not payable in cash.

Withdrawal terms at a glance:

  • CHF 50'000 per month penalty-free
  • Higher amounts require three months’ notice
  • Account transfers are possible only into an account in the name of the child
  • Due to FINMA rules, if the withdrawal limit is exceeded without complying with the notice period, we are required to charge a fee of two per cent on the amount exceeding the withdrawal limit.
